The Central Division Skills Development team is organizing two mini Powderfall-type events for March 2023 at Crystal Mountain and Granite Peak. Join in the fun by attending a Central Division-wide event!
What is it
It will be 2 days of multiple program training in a variety of disciplines. You will get the opportunity to pick and choose what you want to attend and when you want to attend it. We have 4 types of sessions being offered. Sessions range from a couple of hours, half a day or a whole day.
Types of Programs
Certifications with credit for NSP Programs: (i.e. Senior OEC Aid Room Module, Instructor Development, PSIA Level 1, AASI Level 1)
Electives with credit for NSP Programs: (i.e. SES/TES type events for all ability levels, YAP Specific, Women Specific groups, Snowboard Specific, Tele Specific)
Experiences related to NSP programs: (i.e. Avalanche transceiver search/probe line techniques, Low Angle rescue activity, OEC team event, Risk Management Session)
Mountain Explore groups - Camaraderie oriented groups (i.e YAP, Alumni, Women's, All Patroller touring)

Crystal Mountain deadline to register is Feb. 28.
Granite Peak deadline to register is March 10.
$50 per person which includes 2 days of lift tickets, instruction, morning coffee and FUN!
Once you are registered, paid the fee and signed the waiver, you will receive an email confirmation and more information.
All meals are on your own for the event. We will plan a social time on Saturday late afternoon to meet and greet.

Crystal Mountain reservations – call 855-402-2148 reservations. State you are Attending the “National Ski Patrol Conference” and you will receive a 15% discount rate on any type of lodging available. This is for March 10-12, 2023 to receive a discounted rate. Crystal has studios, hotel rooms, condos and houses to choose from. Get a group together to share the costs. Crystal requires the first night’s stay as a deposit, which is refundable up to 7 days prior to the arrival, less a $10 administration fee.
Harbor Lights in Frankfort Michigan – call 231-352-9614. This is about a 20-30 minute drive from Crystal. They have motel rooms to 3 bedroom condos for rental. You can decide on your own. Motel rooms are $119. Suites and condos cost more. If you mention “Crystal Mountain Ski Patrol”, they will discount your rate by 10%.
Baymont by Wyndham at Beulah Michigan – call 231-930-4052. This is about 20 minutes away from Crystal. Breakfast is included. Motel type rooms only. Rates are based on rack rates. Current rate for this weekend is $161/night + tax. If you block 3 rooms, they will provide a 15% discount.
Fairfield Inn by Marriott – Wausau, Wisconsin – call 715-241-8400 and ask for the “National Ski Patrol” room block for reservations. Rooms are $139 for March 24-26, 2023. Includes continental breakfast and other amenities. This rate is good through March 3, 2023.
There are other hotels in the area where you can obtain your own lodging.
Registration, Payment, Enrollment, Swag, and Attire
Registration will be available on the Central Development Ski Patrol website (nspcentral.org). We are building the registration and payment application.
$50 per person fee. PSIA exam and avalanche level 1, module 1 will have an additional fee.
Ski Patrol Festival T Shirts will be available for purchase through the Central Division Gear Store. Orders placed by the February 28th deadline will be delivered to the Festival for you to pick up. https://promotionpros.store/nsp_central_division_gear/shop/home . Shirts will feature the Festival logo on the front chest and the trail signs logos on the back.
You will need to go to nsp.org Learning Center to enroll in the courses you selected.
For all non toboggan events, please wear civilian clothes. All toboggan events you should wear your patrol gear. Helmets are required for all outdoor events.
