National Ski Patrol Board of Directors Election Information

2016 National Board Election

Dear Central Division Patrollers

With the upcoming National Ski Patrol Board of Directors election, we would like to inform you on Central Division’s position for a more diversified leadership. The National Ski Patrol Board of Directors election is the opportunity for the entire membership to select a diversified group of leaders that represents majority of the regions to drive the organization in the direction that meets the best interest of the entire membership. Currently and for many years there has been an imbalance of regional representation on the NSP Board of Directors and Advisors, with Eastern Division dominating positions, while at the same time there are other regions with no representation at any level within the National organization. This inequity has tipped the scales or delayed actions in key decisions and programs that have affected the entire organization to the betterment of the division with the greatest representation. This situation is not a healthy environment for the future of the organization. It requires adding new leaders with a voice of all regions who understand the issues of our organization is facing and embrace our concerns when it comes time to dealing such issues on a timely manner for the good of the membership.

The National Ski Patrol Board of Directors election will be held October 15 - December 1, 2016. In the last election, Central Division represented 40% of the total membership votes, electing two additional Central Division members to the “Board” It is more important than ever for you to vote in this year’s election to elect new candidates that would establish a more diversified board. For this election we would like you to consider the following candidates for the NSP Board of Directors:

Jay Zedak - Central Division

Brian Ulrich - Central Division

Joshua Masur - Far West Division

Mike Huber - Northern Division

Current Board representation from the Far West Division has elected to not seek a second term. Further, the Northern, Pacific Northwest, Alaska and European Divisions currently do not have representation on the Board, which will leave even less diversity. Your current Central Division board members and running candidates are committed to resolving the diversity issue. The addition of the two representations in this year's election would create a more diversified Board of Directors. You can go to the NSP website under "Member Resources," 2016 Board Elections (http://www.nsp-elections.org/) to see all resumes of the candidates.

A more diversified Board of Directors will make better decisions affecting our membership. Together we can make a difference.

Regards

John (JT) Thomas
